Happy 2018 and welcome to the re-launch of Nashville Offbeat!
On January 31st, Nashville Offbeat is presenting a live music showcase at The Five Spot! On top of incredible music from Basic Printer, Elisabeth Beckwitt, and Cat Parks, this event will include super generous giveaways from our sponsors for you to win. All door proceeds will benefit Nashville's own Safe Haven Family Shelter!
Safe Haven Family Shelter of Nashville provides an all-encompassing system to help end and prevent homelessness by empowering people to build a new life and support themselves. The folks at Safe Haven accomplish this through education, job training, housing, financial counseling, daycare, health, wellness education and a grand array of other programs.
“Blood, Sweat, Tears” is the first co-written song by Catalina and her bandmates. It walks you through Catalina’s memories and Chile’s geographical landscape while entwining the realization and freedom that home is more of a feeling in your bones than it is a place on a map.
It has it all! Jazzy, funky, upbeat vibes. Melodies that will make you sing along involuntarily and a beat that will make you want to get out of your chair and start dancing. “Good Weird” hits its own level of offbeat while simultaneously maintaining a sound that’s mainstream enough for everyone to enjoy.
In November of 2017, Elisabeth released her latest video titled “Gray Again.” The video begins with a narrative of her time spent in McLean Psychiatric Hospital and the parade of medications she was given with their many adverse side-effects.
By the end of the video, each woman is holding up a sign of positive affirmation, and as the viewer reads through them, they become a part of the mission to spread the love resonating from “Heartbreaker.” If you’re looking for a new anthem of empowerment, this is it!
Combining elements of jazz, soul, funk, rock, reggae, and everything in between, Dynamo’s unique sound has pleased the ears of Nashville locals since the band’s formation in 2012.
“Weather the Storm” is not at all what I expected.
It's one thing to see a well-rehearsed band play a set, but it's quite another to see it done with such ease, such confidence.
"The theme for the night is Jackets" declared the Funk/Jazz Jam trio called Group Nap. Having told their fans this on social media leading up to the show, the band wore eighties style windbreakers to set the scene for a fun and quirky night of music.
If Wolfmother and the Arctic Monkeys met in a garage in the 60's and had a lovechild, that child would rock, slam, and jam like The Dirty Delusions.
If you're looking for the next up-and-coming party band, look no further. The Hoose Moose beckons you to get down.

...there’s this epidemic of constantly feeling like we need to be doing something productive. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do though is find a place to relax and breathe.
There it is. Let the wisdom of the great Yoda wash over you as January of 2018 begins!
This non-profit has the only shelter-to-housing program in Middle Tennessee that houses the entire family. Many facilities only permit the mother to be sheltered with the children - not the father. This non-profit is concerned about maintaining the family unit, which is a key to ensuring success for these children.
