The Terminal Cafe: Find Your Home Away From Home

The Terminal Cafe: Find Your Home Away From Home

Where is your home away from home?

Where is that place you can go where the people are always welcoming?  Where the food is always delicious, and the music is right up your alley?  Where is that place that will accommodate you mentally, whether you feel introverted or extroverted, happy or upset?

About 6 months ago, my boyfriend and I happened upon this little coffee shop in East Nashville for an afternoon pick-me-up.  Walking in, the first things we noticed were a giant bright pink bar, four clocks set to four different time zones, and foreign currency magnetized to the espresso machine.  When we looked a little lost, the man behind the bar smiled right at us and welcomed us to sit down.  He asked us about our day, and learned our names.  And just like that, Khalil Davis’ coffee shop, “The Terminal Cafe,” became one of our favorite Nashville spots.

I’d like to pretend we’re special, but just by walking into The Terminal Cafe any day of the week, you can tell that everyone feels at home there.  We see the same customers time and time again, all laughing and talking with the kindest baristas you’ll ever meet.

After only a couple visits, we were regulars.  They know we get almond milk mocha lattes with cayenne in them and breakfast burritos.  And the best part is that we can just tell that everything is made with love!  It’s magnificent - really!

Having somewhere to go to unwind, (or charge up,) is so important in today’s world.  Everything moves so quickly and there’s this epidemic of constantly feeling like we need to be doing something productive.  Sometimes the most productive thing you can do though is find a place to relax and breathe.  Enjoy some time at your home away from home.  And if you don't have one yet...you know where to go.  ;)
