Using Your Gift For Good (Kindness Day!)

Using Your Gift For Good (Kindness Day!)

Whether you’re a musician, a writer, a painter, an actor, or anything else that falls under the category of what Nashville Offbeat passionately promotes, you have been given a gift. You have a gift that the world needs. You have the unique ability to connect with people through the process of creating something that is meant to be expressed from your life. When you let that sink in, you’ll realize that with a high calling comes the responsibility to do something good that positively impacts the lives of other people. Your talent becomes bigger than you and the need to use it for good becomes even greater.

I have always believed that kindness is one of the greatest forces in our lives. My parents taught me the importance of it and I have seen it played out over and over again in the forty-two years I have been on this earth. I’m sure all of you can think about times when someone did something nice for you, and it made a difference in your day. Some kind acts even have the potential to change the course of your life. As a writer and speaker, I am constantly looking for ways to use what I do to show kindness to others. We each have a platform and what better way to use that than to give back through kindness.

I created KINDNESS DAY to do just that! It’s happening Saturday, September 15th and the goal is simple - have people from all fifty states perform random acts of kindness on the same day. Imagine the burst of positive energy that fills the world when we all intentionally come together to do something nice for someone else! I would love to invite each of you to join our community and think of a simple act of kindness you could perform on that day. It would be amazing if you were able to tie it in with your gift. You could hold a concert September 15th and give the proceeds to a local charity. You could offer to do a painting for a very deserving individual free of charge. You could volunteer your time for kids wanting to learn how to play an instrument or pursue their own dreams. The possibilities are endless, but what I know is that your simple act of kindness will positively impact someone else - and you have no idea how far the ripple effect of that could go! It’s an amazing and beautiful thought!

I encourage each of you to think about your life and the goals you are pursuing and how they can be used for the greater good. If you’re interested in joining KINDNESS DAY, visit KevinBuchanan.me/KindnessDay for more info!
