Kid Politics Release Their New Single "California Vibes"
Alright everyone! Kid Politics is back again with a new single called "California Vibes," and Nashville Offbeat is so stoked to be a part of their release! This song is going to make you want to dance, sing, and get a little nostalgic. We got the inside scoop with lead singer Kelby Dover over some lattes at Crema this past week.
Kid Politics is a pop trio who has a sound comparable to Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, and OneRepublic. The band started when Kelby moved to Nashville to pursue music in 2015 where he met drummer Michael Mann. The two instantly hit it off, both personally and musically. Soon after, Michael brought in bassist Diego, and the dynamic pop trio was born. "Kid Politics would not be close to what it is without them," says Kelby.
The band went to California to record their first single, "Did It Anyway," and the west-coast state left quite an impression on them. Inspired by that trip, they created a tune that's filled with catchy melodies, uptempo drum beats, and sad yet warming lyrics. Kelby originally wrote "California Vibes" with songwriters Jona Sherwood and Jimi Bell. He says about the song:
"California Vibes is really special. There's a lot of imagery in it. It's got a lot to do with past relationships or something in your life that you wish you could go back to. When I think of California, I think of sunshine, birds, and palm trees. All of that resembles good vibes to me. The song puts me back in these different places in my life when I had things going on that I wish I could go back to."
So without further ado, hit play above for the pre-premier of "California Vibes" by Kid Politics! If you like what you hear, support this local band by purchasing the song on iTunes tomorrow, and make sure you follow them on their socials to find out when and where they're performing live!
