Roger Jaeger Sings For the Hopeless Romantics in "Just Wanna Meet You"
Would you believe it if I told you there’s an artist based in Nashville who is combining pop/rock music with sounds of the traditional Indian sitar and making it sound great? Enter singer and multi-instrumentalist, Roger Jaeger. With his diverse sounds and unique musical talents, Jaeger is a perfect example of what it means to be an offbeat artist. He’s doing something different and doing it exceptionally well right here in Nashville.
Roger Jaeger’s album, “Start Over” was absolutely refreshing to hear. Influenced by Indian culture, several songs include the sitar which Roger learned during his time in India. Just before writing this, I listened to the album while taking a walk outside on a chilly, but sunny day. The hope and positivity in his words was contagious. I found myself getting happier by the second song. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about his sound that makes me want to smile and dance around like a little kid.
One of my favorite songs on the album, “Just Wanna Meet You”, puts into words the longing we all feel to find someone to live our lives with. The idea that there’s a person out there meant just for you is one that brings comfort to all the hopeless romantics of the world. However, I think we all have a little bit of that hopeless romantic inside of us. The music video for this song captures this feeling of being so close, but still so far. Sitting on the same couch, passing the same mural, crossing the same bridge, but still missing each other. The ending of the video brings hope to all of us who search for love. Check out the music video below.
Roger Jaeger’s new album release, “Fall Off The Earth”, will be coming out in the next couple of months! Also, there is still time to pre-order the album on PledgeMusic for some pretty cool perks. A couple of my favorites are the option of preordering the album along with an authentic sitar from India or even enjoying an Indian dinner for you and three friends with Roger, himself!
Nashville Offbeat is proud to be showcasing the talents of Roger Jaeger at this month’s Offbeat showcase at The 5 Spot. Come out and see him on March 28th, along with Catalina and Bentley Caldwell. If you’d like to hear more from Roger Jaeger, check out his website, listen to his music on Spotify or Apple Music, and follow him on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
