Song Review: "Letting It Go" With David Andrew Has Never Been So Easy
I hit play on the music video for Letting It Go by David Andrew, and it hit me. His voice. It carried through the noise in my head and caught my full attention because of its clarity and angelic smoothness. As I watched, his kind face invited me into an acoustic performance, and by the time I knew what had happened, the 4:47 video was over and I was back in the real world.
Letting It Go was co-written by Christian writers David Andrew and David Dennis. In my opinion, you don't need to be from a certain background, or from a certain walk of life to really enjoy the beauty that it exhibits. Sometimes a beautiful song is just...beautiful. The message of the song encourages you to let go of your troubles and live fully by giving it all to Jesus. I find an immense peace and meditation in the warmth of the simple concept, (although tougher application), of surrendering. Even if that surrender of my troubles lasts only the length of the song, it's worthwhile.
David Andrew said it best himself: "I never want to create music that does not make people feel free. My hope and prayer is that people, no matter their background, can listen to my music and not only relate, but feel inspired and know there is hope."
See for yourself, and let me know if you're as captivated as I was by watching Letting It Go here:
